Bluebird house nesting
04/03/06 10:17
The sparrows seem to be taking over the three bluebird houses on our property, which were previously used by bluebirds and swallows. We have used the "fishing line" theory on the houses this year, which is supposed to discourage sparrows, however after watching the houses, it seems that the sparrows now take an alternate apporoach to the houses which allows them to bypass the fishing line on either side of the house entrance hole.
Is there anything else you can suggest to keep the sparrows away from the houses. We constantly remove the nests, but within a couple days they are back building the nest again. We have both bluebirds and swallows on the property, but the sparrows seem to be winning the battle.
