Blue Bird Nesting
05/29/07 11:34
I have a pair of Blue Birds who nested in a Blue Bird box that I put up. The eggs have hatched and the female has been non-stop feeding her young. Although the male has been very active and very visible, I haven't seen him for a few days. I'm afraid something happened to the male - Is there any other explanation?

Bluebird in the mailbox
06/23/05 10:06
I live in Wilmington North Carolina and recently went to replace my old mailbox. I set the new mailbox in cement and then noticed that there was a bluebird nest with 4 eggs in it in the newspaper slot of the old mailbox. I don't want to desroy the nest and am wondering how long I have to wait to put up the new mailbox.
Yay, an egg!

Great pictures and info. Our 1st nesting BB started nest building on 5-7. She has 4 eggs and is sitting on them now. We live in No. Central FL. Thanks for your great pics and info on them.

All bluebird boxes should be mounted on a metal pole with a predator baffle. Last year a raccoon got one of these boxes and I hope that it was learned that all boxes need baffles!

I watched yesterday 5/5 as they, one by one, left. It was around 5pm PST...

Amazing!
What happened to the babies?

Do Bluebirds ever come to North Carolina? If so what kind of seed will attract them?

I found this web-cam yesterday and I am so excited to show my children how the baby birds are cared for by the mother bird. The babies were eating a short time ago and it was so neat!
Hooked on Bluebirds!

Thanks to watching your bluebird cams via the internet all last summer I got interested in helping bluebirds. I live in Wilmington, North Carolina and I put up my first bluebird box last Fall. The box attracted a nesting pair of Eastern Bluebirds this spring and their eggs hatched on April 20th. So far the babies are doing fine.

I love the new look of the web site and I've already sent a link to several friends. Keep up the good work.
