2005 Comments - Western Bluebird (OR)2

Is the chance of survival expected to be any less for this late brood, since they are making their start in the world well behind some of their earlier "cousins"?

It's 9:40PM out there, the chicks haven't been fed in over 3 hours, I've been watching the cam all evening. Now it's completely dark out and the mother never came back. The chicks are in the nest all alone. Someone needs to check what's going on!

The picture at 12:51:02 on 7.25.05 shows two eggs hatched - the 13th day of incubation.

I, too, am curious about the "lone survivor" comment. Glad to see another active nest since all the others are either inactive or broken except the faithful osprey nest and a barn owl now and then.

Is the sponsor watching this nest? Any feedback about the lone surviver comment?

I see what appears to be a violet green swallow in the box. Would they possibly start a nest now that the bluebirds have fledged?
