This past week we watched as a chickadee completed her wonderful moss nest in a blue bird house on a stake in the front of our house and laid three eggs. Then this morning there are no eggs to be seen and my daughter said she didn't see the mother on nest when she went to bed last night...what could have happened?

The camera didn't send over the internet properly. I don't know what happened to it, but Cornell staff said they did not get continuous pictures during fledging.

One of the adults is perching near the box with a little caterpillar. It's going back and forth from the entrance hole where the nestlings perched, back to it's perch near the box, chattering like crazy!

this is the third time at least I have seen the black capped chickadee check out the bird box on the wooden stake in my parents back yard. Saw a chickadee also check out this wren box checking the hole space and a chickadee inspected this mesh onion bag with nesting material in it! I think this looks very promising!

Are chickadees supposed to be looking for nesting sites now in the northern tier? I was at my parents house and saw a black capped chickadee go in a blue bird box on a wooden stake in the back yard when I was outside picking moss. There was no nest in there but is this a good sign?

What material does the chickadee use to line the nest? It looks like cotton.

Now I see that the mama on the eggs is a chickadee. She is so cute!

Sure looks like a comfy nest to me. Eggs could be conceeled (Cant't spell) in that nice feathery cup. She's so cute and petite.

I saw clearly before there was six eggs and now I only see five. Did a animal take one of the eggs for supper or is the egg covered up with nesting material?

It is Wednesday at 12:30 pm and it looks as if a dead bird is laying in the nest. However, it doesn't look like a chickadee. There is no black on it's head. Not sure what I am seeing. Please clarify for me. Maybe another bird tried to take over nest & chickadee killed it.

I have two pair of dees nesting in boxes (my first time for these birds) so I'm excited by the prospect of learning more about them thru this cam. Thanks!
