2007 Daily Highlights:

July 15 - We regret to inform you that at 10:42 PM the chicks were lost to the rat snake you see here. We hope that the bluebirds will renest again soon.

July 15 - The father pokes his head in to check on the chicks. It appears that about four of the eggs hatched and they're all hungry!

July 14 - Hatching day! Here the first chick has broken out of its eggshell.

July 11 - Here's an attractive pic of the hen sitting on the nest. She's been taking frequent breaks, which is appropriate for current weather conditions. Bluebird incubation is usually 11-19 days. Environmental conditions can affect the length of incubation and hot weather usually shortens it.
