I left before light this morning. Probably a snake or other predator got them. I've called Cornell to ask them to look at the archived pictures but if it happened at night we just won't know. There were no fireworks on our property. The nest is pretty high but a snake could possibly get to it as could avian predators.

...it says fledging 16-18 days after hatching...looks like they hatched 6/29 or 30th (?)...sooooo too soon for fledging! We'll just have to see when its lighter in the nest!..or Jennifer tells us something.

I don't know why it keeps doing that. We reboot the computer and it's fine but it seems like it only lasts a few hours before it freezes up again.

We centered the nest more in order to get the cam to focus on the nestlings better. They were pretty blurry. In order to move it, we had to put a shield up under the nest to keep the bright light from messing up the picture. I didn't even think to look at the nestlings and get a count while I was up there! I'm sure we'll get a clear shot of how many beaks there are soon. Kara was here for the cam work and then helped me with some baffles on Bluebird nest boxes. We had a good time.

The time showing on the picture is 2:10...something must be up because it is currently 8:35 pm eastern time...also, the time stamp on the wood duck also must be wrong...it's showing 2:10 pm...which isn't right either...also, look at the picture dated 6/24...both parents in the nest....so, I'm hoping the cam is stuck......between the CA owls leaving, the TX owls being the TX owls, the Warblers fledging, I don't think I can stand Mom going AWOL...so its gotta be stuck cams!!!

The male standing guard over the eggs while the female takes a break, how sweet is that! I'm really looking forward to seeing these nestlings since the cam went down prior to the fledging of the MN Phoebes.

this is so cool.........thank you!! it's so clear, gonna be great to watch these too! wendy :)
Unfortunately, whatever happened to these nestlings occurred during the night of July 4-5th, when our camera showed only a black screen. Without an infrared light on the camera, it was impossible to determine what happened. Based on the intact condition of the nest however, our *best guess* would be that a large snake depredated the nest.
