You don't have to worry as she definitely has a handsome male Acorn Woodpecker ready, willing and able!

This morning they were "talking" things over near their "pantry" utility pole, which is a major food storage area they'll utilize to feed their nestlings easily and efficiently. They drill out small holes in the pole and stuff them with nuts and our homemade suet.

Keep track as it will be any day now,

As always you provide us with excellent updates. I know elf owls are very important, but the opportunity to observe a woodpecker "family" is just so intriguing! I also check the box at the same time every evening (8:00 PM CA time) to see if the woodpecker made it back to the box. I'm so happy to read that it is indeed a female!
