Making a better Noel guard - Submitted by Daniel Parker

INTRODUCTION

Fourteen year-old Daniel Parker, of Greenbelt, Maryland has modified the traditional Noel Guard to fit the Peterson-style nest box.

The Noel guard is a rectangular tube of hardware cloth stapled to the front of the nest box. The edge of the tube has sharp points that will jab any creature that tries to reach into the entrance hole; however, the occupants of the nest box can easily come and go.
