FeederWatch Electronic Newsletter

About the newsletter

Project FeederWatch provides an electronic newsletter to keep participants and others up-to-date on the latest FeederWatch news. Messages are typically posted once or twice a month during the season, less often in the off-season. Subscribers can sign off of the list at any time by clicking the "unsubscribe" link at the bottom of each message or by following the instructions below.

See newsletter messages online

The newsletter posts are sent in a format that allows us to include photos, and the messages may not display properly in older versions of email software (particularly Microsoft Outlook 2002 and 2003) or with some software settings. If you have trouble seeing the messages in your email, you can view them online by clicking the issue dates at right.

How to sign-up

To sign up for the FeederWatch electronic newsletter, or any of the electronic newsletters of the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, enter your email address in the Lab's newsletter web page. You will receive an email message with a link to your own email subscription manager on the Lab's website. From there you can select which Cornell Lab email subscriptions you would like to receive. All Project FeederWatch participants in the United States and Canada who have provided current email addresses will automatically receive the newsletter unless they opt out.

Canadians can also contact Bird Studies Canada to be added to the electronic newsletter mailing list and receive Project FeederWatch reminders and updates.

To sign up for the electronic newsletter of Bird Studies Canada, visit their website.

Spam blockers will block this newsletter

If you have a spam blocking software on your computer, newsletter posts may be blocked. There are thousands of subscribers to this newsletter, so messages sent to subscribers can appear as spam (unwanted email messages) to many spam filters. If your filter allows you to choose addresses to receive email from, please set the program to allow messages from <feederwatch@cornell.edu>.

Signing-up for the newsletter does not register you to participate in Project FeederWatch

Signing-up to receive the FeederWatch electronic newsletter is completely unrelated to whether or not you are signed up to participate in Project FeederWatch. Once you sign up for our electronic newsletter, you will remain subscribed (unless your email address changes or you unsubscribe per instructions below) regardless of whether your participate in FeederWatch.  (Sign-up for Project FeederWatch here.)

To unsubscribe or to update your email address

To unsubscribe an email address from any Lab of Ornithology email list, go to the Lab's newsletter web page and enter the email address you would like to unsubscribe. An email message will be sent to that email address that will allow you to edit your subscriptions.

If your email address changes, follow the instructions above to unsubscribe your old address. Then go back to the Lab's newsletter web page and enter your new email address to receive a link by email that will allow you to edit the subscriptions for that address.

Note that changing your email address for the electronic newsletter will not automatically change the address in our data entry system or in the membership database. Receiving electronic newsletter messages does not indicate that your email address is correct in other places. In order to receive an automatic login name or password reminder, your email address must be kept up-to-date in the online database by following the "Edit your profile" link on the Data Entry home page. To change your email address in our membership database, contact the FeederWatch office in your country.
