Red-bellied Woodpecker

People often wonder why the Red-bellied Woodpecker is so named. In this shot from Eileen Cantella of Glenshaw, Pennsylvania, you can see the red belly.

  Hairy and Downy Woodpeckers

Nancy Loos captured this great shot of both a Hairy and a Downy Woodpecker on her suet feeder in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. As she said, "It gives a nice representation of the size difference."

  Yellow-bellied Sapsucker

This rather scruffy looking Yellow-bellied Sapsucker is probably a juvenile, but the photo, taken by Jayne Rhynard in Sewell, New Jersey, shows a nice line of typical Sapsucker holes.
