The day-to-day operations of FeederWatch are carried out by the project leader and project assistants, but FeederWatch is truly a TEAM effort, and the special skills of many people are called upon throughout the year.

Project Leader

Project FeederWatch at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology is managed by Laura Kammermeier.  Laura is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of FeederWatch which include writing educational materials, recruiting new members, tracking the budget, analyzing data, developing and managing the web site, and coordinating the Ambassador program.

Project Assistants

While Anne Marie Johnson and Marilyn Moskal are each here only a precious 20 hours each, they do a great job of keeping FeederWatch running smoothly. Anne Marie makes sure that Research Kits and other materials are designed, printed, inventoried, and mailed out while Marilyn focuses on the Ambassador program, data processing, and participant support. Both write and edit printed materials and web pages, answer the phone, and much more.

Volunteers and Temporary Personnel

In additional to relying on Work Study students and seasonal temporary staff, the successful operation of FeederWatch, particularly the processing of data forms, is absolutely dependent upon the generous help of volunteers such as Ruth Davis, Marcia Baker, and Shirley McAneny (pictured below). We are deeply indebted to the service they provide.

Principal Investigators and Data Analyst

The scientific and educational aspects of FeederWatch are overseen by the following directors at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology: Rick Bonney, John Fitzpatrick, André Dhondt, and Ken Rosenberg.

Additionally, we are grateful to Wesley Hochachka for the tremendous scientific support he provides.

The Birdsource Staff and the Lab's Web Site Designers

Our web site is a group effort of numerous people, including Internet programmers and the Lab's talented web-site designers.

The Lab's Communications Staff

The colorful and informative materials you see may have been written by the project staff, but the Lab's communication staff often plays the crucial role of editing and designing the materials before they hit the press. They also answer calls to the Lab's toll free phone line, distribute press releases based on FeederWatch results, and speak to reporters across the country about the project.

The Lab's Membership Personnel

All things must start somewhere, and your participation in FeederWatch usually starts at the membership office. The membership personnel (including a few that have been at the Lab since Project FeederWatch began) enter your name into the database and ensure that your kits are sent to you after you sign up.

Don't forget our Canadian partners at Bird Studies Canada:

Project Leader: Kerrie Wilcox
Senior Scientist: Denis Lepage
Membership: Rosie Kirton
President: George Finney

Taken together, the FeederWatch staff, the Lab staff, and your bird contributions truly make FeederWatch a team effort. Many thanks to those  who are involved every step of the way.
