Common Grackles--Photo by Jim Shows,
Waxahachie, Texas
I have a lot of
grackles that visit my bird bath daily and I have noticed that several of them
steal dog food from the neighbors yard and bring it to my bird bath to wash and
soften it so they can eat it. I have to clean the bird bath out every day
the water gets so soupie from so much dog food. I even saw one yesterday bring a
green grasshopper and washed it before she ate it. I have not noticed that
the male doing this. I just wondered if that was un usual behavior for that
bird. Click here to find out.
Nesting Mourning
Doves--Photo by Colleen Burgess Crank I love spring time and
finding a nest in an unexpected place. This was in my mother-in-law's
plant container. She was planning to plant some flowers in it, but those
plans obviously have been placed on hold .

Night Heron--Photo by Renee Stein I saw this bird perched on a sign
in the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens in Brooklyn, New York in one of their fish
ponds on Saturday morning, April 17, 2004 at approximately 11 A.M. watching the
goldfish swim by. It caught one and swallowed it. I have never seen
one of these birds before and wanted to report it to you.
Nesting Rock
Pigeon--Photo by Andrea
Levy This bird is nesting on my mother's
balcony. I think it is a rock pigeon, but am not totally sure. Could
you confirm this, or suggest what else it might be?
