What is CROWS COUNT?

You can help scientists answer the question, "How do crow group sizes change with seasons?"

All you have to do is

  1. Find a study site for studying crows, ravens, magpies, or jays
  2. Record simple habitat information
  3. Count the birds and record their behaviors
  4. Report your data to the Cornell Lab of Ornithology

By participating in Crows Count, you will

  • learn how to count crows and their relatives (ravens, magpies, and jays)
  • learn how to observe behaviors of crows and their relatives
  • contribute meaningful data for the Cornell Lab of Ornithology scientists to learn more about how crows behave in groups
