Easy Ways to Get Started
1.
Go for a bird walk. See what birds
you find, talk about the habitat.
2.
Print coloring book pages and have kids color the
birds using the bird poster or a field guide.
3.
Become a "Species Specialist." Students could be
responsible for one species and become the expert on that bird.
4.
Read a book. Make connections to local and/or
international issues.
5.
Set up a feeder area. Make your own feeders and learn to identify
the birds they attract.
6.
Study pigeons. Count the numbers and color
types in a local flock of pigeons.
7.
Put up a nestbox in your schoolyard or nearby
