| Teacher Training for CSS
projects This section of the Citizen Science in the Schoolyard web
site is designed to help teachers and other educators (nature center staff, youth group
leaders) when leading teacher training workshops for CSS projects. Much of this
information has been developed for Classroom FeederWatch, the first of several curricular
projects within CSS. Information from the other curricular projects will be added to these
pages as they are developed.
This Online Teacher Training Workshop
Manual provides you with the information needed to lead a successful teacher training
workshop. The Manual is divided into three sections:
1. Workshop
Preparation resources to use in preparing the workshop
2. Workshop
Materials (Workshop Goals, Introduction to Citizen Science, Bird
Identification, etc.) for use during the workshop, and
3. Workshop Follow-up including
a Trainer Feedback Form.
Within each section we provide three kinds of
support materials:
a) Dialogue
sheets with suggestions on how to present the material in that section,
including correlation with overheads, print outs, and CSS web pages.
b) Overheads
to use in illustrating the main points of that section.
c) Printable
fact sheets to distribute to workshop participants.
Use the links to the left to navigate within
the manual, then use the pdf file to print out the manual for use as a
reference while conducting the workshop.
In addition to the manual, we are developing
the workshop materials into two Power Point files, one for producing a slide presentation,
and a more dynamic version for use when you have a computer available in the workshop
facility. Check this page for more information as these files become available.
