In May we head back to Magee Marsh, the warbler capital of North America!


Friday May 11 --  Sunday May 13, 2018 

 

May 11:


8:00am – Depart from Cornell Lab

 

12:30pm – Lunch at Presque Isle State Park (bag lunch, not provided)

1:30pm – 3:00 Birding at Presque Isle

3:00pm Depart for Port Clinton.

6:30pm Arrive in Port Clinton, Dinner at restaurant (bring $)

8:00pm Check into Commodore Perry Inn and Suites 

 

May 12:
 

6:00am: breakfast @ hotel (provided)

6:45am: Depart by bus for Magee Marsh Boardwalk

7:15am: arrive at Magee Marsh

7:15am – 12:30pm: birding on boardwalk

12:30 – 1:30pm: picnic lunch on site (provided)

1:30 – 1:45pm:  Bus to Metzger Marsh

2:00 – 5:30pm: Birding at Metzger Marsh

5:30 - 6:00pm: Bus back to Port Clinton

6:15: Dinner in Port Clinton TBD (bring $)

8:00 Hotel

 

May 13:


5:30am: breakfast @ hotel (provided)

 

6:00am: Bus to Magee Marsh

6:30 – 11:30am: birding at MM

11:30am – 12:30pm: picnic lunch (provided)

12:30 – 2:00pm More birding on boardwalk

2:00 – 5:00pm Depart for Erie

5:00 – 5:45pm dinner at Erie TBD (probably Wegman's!)

 

6:00 – 10:00pm Bus back to Ithaca

Binoculars (and/or spotting scope - if you have one), field guide, sunscreen, water bottle, and bug repellent.

Attire
Casual. Light-colored clothing (long pants) and socks, and sun hats. We recommend monitoring the weather forecast—you may need to bring rain gear and/or a windbreaker!!

Price
$395, shared occupancy; Add $50 per night for a single room.  Price includes instruction by top-notch field trip leaders, round-trip bus fare, motel room (shared, double occupancy), and any complimentary meals (as specified) above. Each motel room has two double beds, so you may want to decide who you would like to room with in advance.


No refunds after TBD (though you may find someone to take your place if you need to cancel). 

Special arrangements
Much of the fun of this trip is traveling together on the bus. Enrollment in this trip is limited by the number of seats on the bus and due to logistical constraints. 

 


On board entertainment includes films and birding and bird trivia!   The bus is equipped with wi-fi.
