I work with the Swift Recorder team at the K. Lisa Yang Center for Conservation Bioacoustics to develop software to support SwiftOne and future Swift recorders. I have a long-time admirer of the Lab of Ornithology and enjoy its Migration Celebration events. Through the monitoring and sound analysis technology research in bioacoustics, I have learned to appreciate the sound-related aspects of conservation. I am excited to be part of a team developing new technologies on this front.

Before joining the KLY-CCB, I spent most of my career in the defense and telecommunication industries. Over the last three years, I worked as a manufacturing engineer at a local 3D metal printing company called Incodema3D, where I wrote software to automate and streamline the 3D printing process and maintained company data integration systems. Before that, I worked as a laser test system engineer and a test system design manager for almost 18 years, working on system automation to reliably test laser products at high volumes.

Outside of work, I enjoy creating new pottery glazes for the Ithaca Youth Bureau’s pottery studio, where I also used to teach pottery classes pre-COVID. I spend the rest of my free time hanging out with my two daughters, my wife, and several pets, including guinea pigs, bunnies, and dogs. When we can travel again, I would like to take my kids to visit my relatives in Thailand, where I spent my childhood.

Year Hired: 2022
