SUMMARY:Beginner Bird Walk
DESCRIPTION:Join us every Saturday and Sunday morning at 8:30 am at the front entrance of the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. We will walk the trails of Sapsucker Woods looking and listening for birds. These 90-minute walks are targeted toward beginners\, but all levels are welcome. Binoculars are available for loan. Please dress for the weather. Walks are led by Cayuga Bird Club volunteers.Our parking lot has six van accessible spaces with no-curb access to paved areas. The trails throughout Sapsucker Woods are all mostly flat and mulched\, with short sections of wooden boardwalk\, and some exposed roots. Boardwalks have a slight incline leading to and from the main walkway. There are several benches are found along the 0.75 mile Wilson Trail. A wheelchair-accessible porta-potty is available in the parking lot and a wheelchair accessible\, all-gender/family restroom and water fountain are available in the Visitor Center after 10 a.m. We also have two wheelchairs available for your use on site.If you are attending with a group of 8 or more\, please let us know so that we can recruit more walk leaders. DESCRIPTION:Join us every Tuesday from 9:30 – 11:00 AM for stationary birding on the shore of Sapsucker Woods Pond. The pavilion area offers a partially-shaded spot to observe birds around the pond\, woods\, and feeder garden area. Binoculars and spotting scopes are available for use and staff will gladly provide tutorials at any time. Folding chairs are available for all attendees but please feel free to bring your own seat. Come and go as you please. \n\n\n\nOur parking lot has six van accessible spaces with no-curb access to paved areas. The event location has a hard-packed wood chip surface located roughly 500 feet from the parking lot over flat concrete sidewalk\, stone slabs\, and a small wooden footbridge. DESCRIPTION:Join guides from Cornell Botanic Gardens and Cornell Lab of Ornithology for combined bird and plant walks this season. \n\n\n\nWe’ll alternate between tours of Sapsucker Woods and the F.R. SUMMARY:Twilight Amphibian Adventure
DESCRIPTION:Listen to an evening amphibian chorus and explore the vernal pools and the forest floor of Cornell Lab of Ornithology’s Sapsucker Woods in search of frogs and salamanders. Led by members of the Tompkins County Amphibian Patrol (TCAMP). We’ll learn why these temporary spring pools are an important habitat for breeding amphibians. \n\n\n\nDress for the weather\, wear shoes that you don’t mind getting muddy\, and bring a flashlight. We’ll be on the trail for roughly 90 minutes and will travel about one mile. Registration is not required for this free\, family-friendly program.
