Participant Engagement Specialist
At Cornell Lab’s Bird Academy, I help connect people to birds by supporting communication, outreach, and learner engagement. I write and edit content, design visuals, assist with course promotions, and support marketing for both online learning and live events. I also help create social media and newsletter content, build campaign strategies, and share data to guide outreach efforts.
A big part of my role is helping us reach more people and make bird and nature education feel approachable and meaningful. I help develop and refine surveys, track feedback from our community, and work across teams to improve how we share learning tools and resources. I’m especially interested in how communication through language, visuals, and engaging, interactive learning experiences can make bird and nature education more welcoming and accessible to a broader audience.
I’ve always loved writing, nature, and learning. Penguins were my first bird love, but a seventh-grade science teacher deepened my interest by showing us a Cornell Lab video on the birds-of-paradise. I earned a degree in English while also taking courses in education, and remained in education through roles in local Ithaca schools and at Cornell University’s Mann Library. While working at Picaflor Farm—creating pollinator-friendly spaces and spending time outdoors with animals—I felt inspired to return to school. I’m now studying Environmental Studies with a focus on ornithology and a goal of pursuing a master’s in science communication. That path led me to the Cornell Lab, where I get to blend creativity and curiosity to help others connect with birds.
