Following Cornell’s guidance on limiting in-person activities, the Cornell Lab of Ornithology Visitor Center is currently closed to visitors. We will be monitoring the situation closely and hope to reopen soon. Please check the calendar for virtual programs.

The Cornell Lab of Ornithology offers a variety of programs and events for visitors of all ages. Please see our events calendar (below) or call 1-800-843-BIRD for more information.

  • Virtual Programs

  • Behind-the-Scenes Tours

    Guided tours offer visitors an overview of the history of the Lab. Admire the exhibits and world-class art in the Visitor Center; peek into the Cornell University Museum of Vertebrates; and explore the various departments and sciences we study at the Lab.


  • Beginner Bird Walks

    Saturdays 8:30-10 a.m. Lead by members of the Cayuga Bird Club, we’ll walk the trails at Sapsucker Woods looking and listening for birds. Bring your binoculars and dress for the weather!


  • Exploration Stations

    Investigate a different topic each week with the help of a friendly volunteer. You’ll find fun and learning for the whole family, featuring a mix of display items, hands-on activities, and ideas for bird-related pastimes at home. Topics include Bird ID, Feathers, Feeding Adaptations, Bird Diversity, and What You Can Do for Birds. It’s all free, and you can drop in for as long or as short as you like! Activities are appropriate for a wide range of ages. Adults should remain present with their children.


  • Seminar Series

    The Lab has a long history of hosting interesting and engaging seminars. Speakers include Cornell Lab staff, book authors, and distinguished scientists from around the world. View our video archive of past seminars.


  • Family Story Time

    Join us in the Adelson Library for readings of bird-themed books from the library’s children’s collection. Ideal for kids ages 2–5 and their families. Adults should remain present with their children.
