From 2006\u20132010 the Cornell Lab and its partners conducted an intensive search for the Ivory-billed Woodpecker in bottomland hardwood forests in the southeastern United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Teams searched more than 523,000 acres in 8 states, beginning in Arkansas where multiple compelling sightings and a few seconds of video were captured in 2005. No definitive evidence of a surviving Ivory-billed Woodpecker population was found during the subsequent searches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
