As Director of Education at Atlanta Audubon Society, Melanie develops and teaches numerous programs about birds for audiences of all ages and backgrounds. A former high school English teacher and BirdSleuth ambassador, she particularly enjoys working with educators to train them how to incorporate the study of birds in their curriculum. Melanie is a licensed wildlife rehabilitator and has volunteered at AWARE Wildlife Center for more than eight years. Recently, Melanie became the custodian for Atlanta Audubon’s first wildlife ambassador, a nonreleasable Ruby-throated Hummingbird named Shepherd. Her favorite hobbies include birding and travel, but she has just as much fun sharing her local birds with enthusiastic new audiences.
