Kristen Morrow

I’m a doctoral candidate in the Integrative Conservation and Anthropology program at the University of Georgia. Working closely with Wendy Erb and in collaboration with Universitas Gadjah Mada and Borneo Nature Foundation, my research examines primate conservation in unprotected forests in Central Kalimantan, Indonesia. My research integrates ethnography, participatory mapping, and passive acoustic monitoring to understand how primates use different anthropogenic habitats, how primate populations have changed over time, and how historical land changes and current livelihood practices influence forest management and conservation opportunities in unprotected landscapes.

I live in Alaska, where I work as an Anthropologist for the U.S. Department of Interior. When I’m not working or writing my dissertation, I enjoy gardening and hiking the Chugach mountains with my husband and two young kids.
