LEAFA Summit 2025

November 11–14, 2025 · Yogyakarta, Indonesia

We are pleased to announce the LEAFA In-Person Summit 2025 in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.  This three-day event is Hosted by BISA Indonesia and the Faculty of Technobiology, Atma Jaya Yogyakarta University, in partnership with the K Lisa Yang Center for Conservation Bioacoustics and Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, and supported by WildLabs. The program will be an opportunity for LEAFA partners to gather, share progress, and plan the next phase of our collaborative program.

This summit is by invitation only and limited to LEAFA program participants, with preference given to those who have committed to carry on to Year 2. A shared accommodation, lunch, and local transportation to the venue will be provided for all attendees during the 3 days of workshop program.

Program Highlights

  • Focused working groups to develop collaborative outputs
  • Hands-on workshops on acoustic data sharing and standardization
  • Group discussions on analytical approaches and collaborative tools

Travel Support

Travel support up to US $350 is available, with priority given to partners committed to LEAFA Year 2. Due to budget limitations, we strongly encourage all attendees to seek travel funding from their home institutions whenever possible.

In order to be be eligible for Year 2 and request travel support, partners will have to:

A. Indicate their commitment to continue to Year 2 in the registration form.

B. Complete all Year 1 task requirements, which are as follow:

  • A short blog post highlighting the achievements of your team from Year 1. 
  • A completed 1–2-page report (template will be provided).
  • Participation in a 1-hour virtual meeting with the organizers to discuss your overall experience with LEAFA.
  • Complete exit survey that will consist of quantitative information (e.g. number of recording hours, number of species annotated) and qualitative information (e.g. what worked for LEAFA, what could be better).

C. Be willing to meet the expectation for Year 2, which are as follow:

  • Collect data on the agreed upon schedule and archive the data promptly (within one week from the end of monthly data collection).
  • Submit a quarterly progress report (template will be provided).
  • Attend and actively participate in the organized sessions and the working group sessions. 
  • Attend the kickoff session, midterm session, and final sessions.
  • Meet the identified goals as outlined by larger groups and the working groups. 
  • Respond promptly to emails and communications about the program (within approximately one week) unless in the field or on leave.

Attendees who are unable to commit to Year 2 but have important results, insights, or contributions to share at the in-person summit are also welcome to request travel support, which will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
