Our brand concept brings a sense of inquiry and passion for protecting nature to life, and emphasizes the fact that the Lab is people-powered. For our audiences, it should spark a sense of curiosity, connection, and ultimately commitment to protecting birds and wildlife.

Visually, this means we lead with birds in all the facets they represent—their wonder and beauty, grandeur and quirkiness, tenacity and fragility. By searching for the perfect poses and behavior, our visual designs create a connection between birds, the story’s subject matter, and the viewer. We augment this personal connection by also incorporating photos of people from many backgrounds—including scientists and students at work, birders enjoying time in nature, and members of the public participating in bird-related activities. Layouts are clean and uncluttered.
