Mini-grants for events or series of activities in your community
These mini-grants provide from $400 to $2000 US dollars, and include materials and/or online resources, and virtual support. No experience with birding is necessary. The activities can engage many people and may involve several organizations and/or institutions, such as regional bird festivals, more localized events or series of activities for a school, neighborhood, senior center, etc. The activities may also be a series of events or workshops spread over weeks or months for specific groups or communities. We are especially interested in supporting organizations and groups that work with low-income, or underserved communities.
The Cornell Lab of Ornithology will consider applications that meet the following criteria:
- Applicants must be part of a Latin American or Caribbean organization or group conducting activities within their region. Mini-grants are not awarded to individual applicants;
- The proposal should include educational activities about birds;
- The proposal should include artistic or cultural activities;
- The proposal should include activities about habitat creation or improvement;
- The proposal should include bird participatory (citizen) science activities and data collection for a Cornell Lab of Ornithology project such as eBird or partner platforms (eBird Caribbean, eBird Central America, etc.), NestWatch, or Great Bird Backyard Count (GBBC).
If you and your proposal fulfill these requirements and would like to apply, we are accepting applications to support events or series of activities in your community in 2025. The deadline to apply is September 30, 2024. To apply, follow the link “Apply Now!” below.
