Mini-grants for Partner-Led Workshops for educators
The Cornell Lab of Ornithology cordially invites Latin American and Caribbean organizations and groups to apply for 2025 mini-grants to organize and facilitate workshops for formal and informal educators in your region. Each mini-grant provides up to $2,250 US dollars, educational materials, and training. Workshop facilitators should be very familiar with our curricula (BirdSleuth International and/or Birds of My World) and/or regional action guides, manuals for educators, Cornell Lab of Ornithology materials and online resources, as well as with birdwatching and our participatory science projects such as eBird, Merlin Bird ID, NestWatch, and/or GBBC (Great Backyard Bird Count). Ideally, workshop facilitators will have participated in one of our Lab-led workshops or online training, and have used our materials and resources extensively in educational activities in their communities. We are especially interested in supporting organizations and groups that work with low-income, at-risk, or underserved communities.
The Cornell Lab of Ornithology will consider applications that meet the following criteria:
- Facilitators should be part of a Latin American or Caribbean organization or group, and have an interest in outreach and educational activities focused on birdwatching, conservation, and bird participatory science in their region. Mini-grants are not awarded to individual applicants;
- Facilitators should have received our training and be very familiar with our materials and resources in educational settings.
- Facilitators and/or applying organizations or groups will be responsible for organizing and managing the workshop(s).
- Facilitators and/or applying organizations or groups will recruit workshop participants (teachers, formal or informal educators, environmental educators, community leaders, etc).
- Please note that the goal of the workshops is to train formal and informal educators so that they can replicate effectively the learned activities with their participants.
The call to apply for the 2025 mini-grants to support partner-led workshops for educators is closed.
