Webinar recorded on February 26, 2026
Sponsored by the Northeast Bird Habitat Conservation Initiative, this webinar will present current research by the New York Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit and the Department of Natural Resources and the Environment at Cornell University around the interactions among energy development, wildlife, and ecosystems.
Presenters will review the value of working lands for grassland bird communities in New York and the impacts solar energy development is having on their populations. They will also share recent findings from their research and offer an evaluation of best management practices for grassland bird conservation amidst this novel driver of land use change.

Webinar recorded on December 10, 2025
Acoustic monitoring is transforming how we understand and care for our landscapes. Conservation professionals are increasingly turning to acoustic monitoring to better understand biodiversity, inform land management, and connect people with nature.
This webinar introduces how solar-powered, real-time recording units—equipped with cutting-edge AI tools—can help land stewards detect species, monitor ecosystems, and share the sounds of their landscapes with the public.
Led by Stefan Kahl and Ashik Rahaman, researchers at the K. Lisa Yang Center for Conservation Bioacoustics at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology.

Webinar Course: Role of Birds on Midwest Farms
Lessons run September 2025 through April 2026
The Wild Farm Alliance is offering a 10-lesson virtual course for farmers and technical service providers to learn how to support beneficial birds and assess the avian needs and opportunities on farms. Lessons will be taught by experts in entomology, ornithology, and conservation, and include topics such as “Bridging Forestry, Farming, and Habitat” and “Bird-Friendly Livestock Operations.”
While many topics and species will be specific to the Midwest, most of the principles are applicable across regions and relevant to those who work in grassland bird conservation. Use the button below to learn more and RSVP for individual lessons or the entire series. Webinar recordings will be posted on the website, along with resources to support each lesson.
