Land Trusts and Wildlife Crossing Structures Toolkit

The Center for Large Landscape Conservation (CLLC) published a Land Trusts and Wildlife Crossing Structures Toolkit in 2023, which compiles lessons learned and best practices in the field. A 29-page resource, the toolkit provides examples of successful partnerships, lists funding sources and other resources for wildlife crossings, and explores how land trusts can engage in wildlife crossing projects.

According to the toolkit, wildlife-vehicle collisions can be reduced by 86-97% with the implementation of properly designed wildlife crossing structures. Public-private partnerships can be essential in developing wildlife crossing projects, and the toolkit provides many examples of land trusts working with private landowners and local government agencies to connect habitats for wildlife.
