Capacity Building & Digital Engagement Coordinator
I work within the K. Lisa Yang Center for Conservation Bioacoustics, and split my time between the capacity building team and digital engagement work. In capacity building, we work to make passive acoustic monitoring education, research, and methods more accessible by developing training materials, workshops, and other programs. In digital engagement, I take all of the above and share with audiences who could find benefits in their communities or research (as well as folks who don’t yet know what bioacoustics can do for them).
I studied design, then spent nearly 10 years in tech developing a skillset that included systems design and internal tools. I made the leap to conservation by joining Washington State University Extension’s water resources/habitat nonprofit arm, Native Plant Salvage Foundation, where I assisted in developing documentation, daylighting inaccessible resources, and developing project management tools as we diversified volunteer leadership. I also grew the body of educational content on their website. I have a great passion for community/citizen science and the conduits to connect researchers and the public.
Outside the Lab
When I’m not at my desk or outside looking at bugs and birds, I’m in the studio working with stained glass or at the local karoke spot.
