Broadly, I use genomic tools to study adaptation in songbird species. My research to date has primarily focused on understanding the genetic basis of adaptive traits in sparrows that inhabit tidal salt marshes—a rapidly declining ecosystem threatened by sea level rise and coastal development.

I’m also interested in the ecological and evolutionary processes that enable locally adapted populations to persist despite gene flow. By identifying the relationships between genes, traits, and the environment, I aim to provide a more comprehensive understanding of the remarkable diversity we see in the natural world.
