Vanessa Powell

Administrative Assistant

As Administrative Assistant to multiple programs at the lab, my job is to provide support with day-to-day business. I do my best to assure that my teams have the tools to create, preserve, and educate.

My passion for the natural world began during my childhood which was spent wandering around our very own Sapsucker Woods. Working with the Cornell Lab means I get to be part of the greater good. The conservation and education efforts here are leading the way for a new generation to enjoy birding at Sapsucker as I did!

Favorite Bird

One of my favorite sounds is the Black-capped Chickadee in springtime. The “hey sweetie” song just puts a smile on my face and makes me feel like whistling.
